Karachi: on 10th Feb. 2011,Sunday at 6:00 am a passenger bus coming from Hyderabad collided with a loading truck near sohrab goth.According to edhi rescue team 8 were dead including bus driver and more than 15 were injured, dead bodies were shifted to edhi’s morgue and injured were shifted to civil hospital. According to police officials the truck driver was drunk and it was the mistake of truck driver.

citizen journalism

on 29th January 2011,an extension lecture on "citizen journalism" was held for the students of mass communication at Anwar Sultana auditorium of Jinnah university for women.

the producer,anchor and documentary film maker of dawn news Mr.Owais Ahmed Mangalwala was the guest speaker.he has been working with dawn news since 2007.he started the lecture in a very casual way.It was a interactive session and everyone enjoyed and appreciated his style of delivering the lecture.He showed some pictures sent to him by the citizen journalist and also shared his experience related to citizen journalism.
He said citizen journalism is "citizen's media and networked journalism"
While explaining the idea of his new show based on citizen journalism he stated:
"The idea behind citizen journalism is that people without professional journalism skills or training can use modern technologies like camera,cell phones,internet,etc to create new report an d to make people aware of that new discovery of yours"
He also describe four different types of citizen journalism.
1.Sharing of experiences
2.Sharing of opinion
3.Sharing of discoveries
4.Sharing of expertise
He also gave some points to make a good cj report.he ended up his lecture by saying:
"never rush after money and fame,just work hard
,you will gain success and excellence and then
fame and money will automatically rush towards you."
Lecturer of Mass.communication department miss Humera also shared her views about citizen journalism and thanked Mr.Mangalwala and dawn news for such a informing lecture.miss Humera also invited Mr.Owais Mangalwala for delivering more lectures in future.

The lecture ended followed by the feedback on the dawn news' morning show "Mast Morning with Maira".
